Bishop Dr. Shaun McKinley was appointed as the executive director of Global Communications for the Church of God of Prophecy International Offices in Cleveland, Tennessee, in September 2024. Before this, he served in dual roles for the Offices as international director of Children’s Ministries (2018-2024) and Administrative Liaison for the Presiding Bishop (formerly general overseer) for seventeen years.
Shaun is a graduate of the University of the Cumberlands, earning a Ph.D. in Leadership Studies with a concentration in Ministry and Missions (2021). He also holds a Master of Business Administration in Marketing (Bryan College, 2014) and a Bachelor of Science in Public Relations (Montana State University, 2000). He has also completed a Certificate in Children’s Ministry (Bethel Seminary, 2023) and two counseling certification programs through the American Association of Christian Counselors.
He serves as an adjunct graduate instructor with Oral Roberts University (Tulsa, OK), Lee University (Cleveland, TN), Bryan College (Dayton, TN), Trevecca Nazarene University (Nashville, TN), as well as Belhaven University (Jackson, MS), where he was recognized in 2019 with the University’s Faculty Excellence Award. In 2024, he accepted an appointment to the Board of the University of Tennessee at Knoxville’s Center for Education and Lifelong Learning (Knoxville, TN).
Growing up in a pastoral family, Shaun has been active in ministry for much of his life. For the past 33 years, he has served in multiple roles, including associate pastor and later children’s pastor of the Peerless Road Church in Cleveland, Tennessee (2004-2006), administrative assistant in COGOP International Children’s Ministries (2002-2003), and as age-level editor (preschool through elementary ages) for One Accord Sunday School curriculum (2009-2012).
He was ordained a bishop with the Church of God of Prophecy in 2018. He is the secretary of the Historical Society of Church of God Movements, having served the Society as president for three terms. Shaun has also served on the International Assembly Task Force for 18 years.
Shaun is passionate about serving and equipping leaders. He has had many opportunities to serve in professional and ministry roles, where this passion has been expressed and developed. In addition to his roles with various universities, he has traveled much of the US and 59 nations, ministering and presenting practical training to children’s ministers, youth ministers, church communicators, and pastors.
Shaun and his wife Stephanie have three daughters, Reagan, Madison, and Kennedy.
